Lori Shaffer

Founder and President
MetroEHS Pediatric Therapy

Lori Shaffer, M.A., CCC-SLP/L is the Founder and President of MetroEHS Pediatric Therapy and a nationally certified speech-language pathologist with more than 30 years of distinguished experience spanning clinical practice, academic instruction, research, and executive leadership in pediatric and educational healthcare.
Ms. Shaffer earned her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from Wayne State University and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Her professional foundation is deeply rooted in both clinical excellence and scientific inquiry. Early in her career, Ms. Shaffer served as a Research Assistant at Wayne State University.
Ms. Shaffer’s clinical career includes extensive hospital-based experience across inpatient, outpatient, and rehabilitative settings, with specialized expertise in feeding and swallowing, voice and fluency disorders, aphasia, pediatric rehabilitation, and interdisciplinary care.
She has held academic appointments as an Adjunct Faculty Member and Clinical Educator at Eastern Michigan University, where she taught graduate-level coursework in speech-language pathology, healthcare administration, and special education law, while supervising graduate clinicians and clinical fellows in university and hospital-based settings.
In 2001, Ms. Shaffer founded Dearborn Speech and Sensory Center, Inc., later expanding into school-based services through Therapy Solutions Unlimited. In response to evolving healthcare access and insurance reform, she re-established community-based outpatient therapy services in 2015, leading to the development and growth of MetroEHS Pediatric Therapy. Under her leadership, the organization has expanded to 22 clinic locations across Michigan, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania offering comprehensive pediatric services including speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, feeding therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and much more.
As President, Ms. Shaffer provides strategic oversight for clinical quality, regulatory compliance, workforce development, and organizational growth. Her leadership philosophy is grounded in evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, ethical service delivery, and equitable access to care. She remains actively engaged in advancing clinical excellence, operational standards, and innovative service models across all MetroEHS locations.
